STAFFORD, Va. — The rescue of the year just went down in Stafford County, and it’s hissss-tory in the making. A local family is breathing a sigh of relief after their pet boa constrictor, named Prince, was safely rescued from an unexpected plumbing predicament Tuesday afternoon.
At 2:30 p.m., Stafford deputies responded to answer an unusual animal control call in the Season’s Landing subdivision. Their mission? To free a boa constrictor that had somehow slithered into the depths of the family’s sump pump and refused to come out.
Now, if you think you heard screams echoing through the neighborhood, you aren't wrong—it was probably Sgt. McCall’s yelp of surprise upon seeing the size of this slippery "Prince." But despite his royal stature, the deputies kept their cool and ended the brief standoff with the help of a trusty snake pole. With one swoop, they gently wrangled the hefty boa back to safety.
Prince, clearly enjoying his time in the spotlight, posed for a few photos like the true celebrity he is before being escorted back to his enclosure.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office didn’t miss a chance to boa-st about their deputies' heroics, and honestly, can you blame them? Wrangling a boa constrictor isn’t exactly your everyday task.
