Smithsonian National Zoo hosts annual Easter Monday egg hunt

There will be activities that take you through 15 interactive tables that show you all the wonders of the zoo and introduce kids to scientists.

WASHINGTON — Get egg-cited for the Smithsonian National Zoo’s Easter egg scavenger hunt on April 1. 

The scavenger hunt will begin at 10 a.m. and run through noon. There will be activities that take you through 15 interactive tables that show you all the wonders of the zoo and introduce kids to scientists. 

The zoo will also host other activities throughout the zoo such as:

10:30 a.m.

  • Meet a Small Mammal | Small Mammal House
  • Keeper Demo | Elephant Community Center or Elephant Outpost (check signs at the exhibit)
  • Meet an Andean Bear Keeper | Amazonia
  • Keeper Chat: Shorebirds | Bird House

11:00 a.m.

  • Meet a Reptile or Amphibian | Reptile Discovery Center
  • Meet a Lion/Tiger Keeper | Great Cats
  • Meet a Keeper | Kids' Farm
  • Pool Feeding | Amazonia
  • Keeper Chat: Songbirds | Bird House

11:15 a.m.

  • Seal or Sea Lion Demo | American Trail

1 p.m.

  • Keeper Choice | Amazonia

1:15 p.m.

  • Keeper Choice | American Trail
  • Keeper Choice | Africa Trail

1:30 p.m.

  • Meet a Keeper | Kids' Farm
  • Meet an Andean Bear Keeper | Amazonia

2 p.m.

  • Meet a Small Mammal | Small Mammal House 
  • Meet a Reptile or Amphibian | Reptile Discovery Center
  • Meet a Keeper | Claws & Paws Pathway

3 p.m. 

  • Keeper Demo | Elephant Community Center

Attendance is free but all guests must reserve passes for entry.
