Your guide to where to watch the 4th of July fireworks in DC (not on the Mall)

Heads up; if you can see the top of the Washington Monument, you will be able to see the fireworks show.

WASHINGTON — Beyond the familiar backdrop of the National Mall, there are plenty of other vantage points to enjoy the Fourth of July fireworks show in D.C.

The 17-minute display is scheduled to begin at 9:09 p.m. and will be launched from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, according to the National Park Service.

Here are 9+ unique spots to enjoy the show:

Mount Vernon Trail

  • Bring a bike or walk along the trail on the Virginia side, near the Pentagon, until you find the best spot to stop and enjoy the show.

Washington National Cathedral

  • As one of the highest points in the District, this is a great option to catch the show. Don't forget to bring a blanket or something comfortable to sit on.

Cardozo High School

  • No, you don't need to be enrolled as a high schooler here to see the show from this location. Just a few blocks from U Street, Cardozo offers a good view of the skyline.

The Wharf

  • Less than a mile away from the Mall, there are plenty of public piers and spaces to catch the show.

Lady Bird Johnson Park

  • Located on an island in the Potomac near the Pentagon, this location provides unobstructed views of the D.C. fireworks show. You can get to the park via the southbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

Georgetown Waterfront

  • Whether you make reservations at one of the restaurants or just pack a picnic, there are plenty of spots to spread out and catch the show.

Hi-Lawn in NoMa

  • Have you heard of Hi-Lawn? Although not the only one, the rooftop bar above Union Market is hosting a free party from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m. (first come, first serve seating on the turf lawn).

The Kennedy Center

  • The terrace offers great views of the D.C. skyline and may be the perfect spot to catch the show.

East Potomac Park: Hains Point

  • A few miles from the Mall, Hains Point offers fantastic views of the Potomac River, Anacostia River and Washington Channel. Head here and grab a picnic table before the show.
