Celebrate Halloween safely at more than a dozen events throughout the District

Families can celebrate safely with DC Department of Parks and Recreation.

WASHINGTON — Halloween is almost here, and this spooky season the DC Department of Parks and Recreation want families to celebrate safely. WUSA9 spoke with director Thennie Freeman who said safety is the goal. Halloween evening safety go teams will be out from 5 p.m. until 1 a.m. to ensure safe passage for kids, teenagers, and adults who will be out celebrating. Teams are typically staffed with violence interrupters as well as members of the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services. Below is a list of all the events DC's Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting.

Haunted Town Haunted House 
Experience a spooky walk-through with eerie settings and masked participants.

Roving Leaders’ Halloween Costume Skate Party 
Join us for a spooktacular night! Grab your costumes and hit the rink for a night filled with thrilling music, creepy costumes, and roller-skating fun. The event also includes a candy drop with the help of DC Fire and EMS with a 24-foot ladder!

Roving Leaders’ Wheels Down, Hay Up 
Join us for a fun-filled Wheels Up, Hay Down Fall Festival! Enjoy seasonal treats, games, and activities for all ages.
