9 adult Halloween events in DC

Because adults just want to have fun, too.

Halloween isn’t just for kids in D.C. In fact, October in the DMV is full of opportunities for adults to dress-up in their scariest costumes, and enjoy some 21+ potions.

1. Night of the Living Zoo at the National Zoo

You’ve taken the kids to Boo at the Zoo, but now it’s your turn. Night of the Living Zoo features live entertainment, craft beers, after-hours access to the animal houses and more. Tickets are $30 for members and $40 for non-members.

2. PUB DREAD

If you find yourself missing the Game of Thrones pop-up bar, have no fear--or perhaps be very afraid. The same three bars are back with a different pop-up: PUB DREAD, a horror-themed bar with even spookier drinks. One’s even called Brains!

3. Eighties Halloween Dance Party at the Black Cat

The Black Cat is taking over the entire club and transporting you back to the 1980s. Break out the flashy attire and hairspray and jam out to your favorites. Tickets are $15.

4. Nightmare on M Street

Now in it’s 19th year, Nightmare on M Street is back again in Dupont Circle. Dress-up and explore over 10 participating bars. There will be costume contests, prizes, and drink specials. Wristbands are $15.

5. Halloween Yacht Party

Don a mask and climb aboard at Georgetown Waterfront for a dazzling view of the city at this Halloween party. Tickets are $50 and include entry and food.

6. Hip Hop Halloween Bar Crawl

Dance your day to six different bars on U Street and enjoy music by several different DJs who will be playing a different theme depending on bar. Tickets are $22.

7. Halloween Titanic Masquerade

Board the doomed Titanic and enjoy a four hour party as you take in the city skyline. Costumes are encouraged. The basic ticket includes food and prices range from $69 to $396.

8. DC Halloween Crawl

You get a souvenir haunted mug when you sign up for this bar crawl in Dupont Circle. Start at The Front Page, District Anchor or Eden to register and then walk, or crawl, to your heart’s desire. Tickets are $25 online and $40 the day of the event.

9. Rocky Horror Picture Show at E Street Cinema

Of course, this isn’t strictly a 21+ event, but you may need to purchase something from the bar to get through this interactive movie experience. Every weekend in October, The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be playing at midnight.
