Wizards, Monumental Sports donate 300,000 diapers | Get Uplifted

The event marks the launch of the Diaper Dudes campaign, created to support and celebrate the critical role of raising children and infant health.

WASHINGTON — The Washington Wizards and Monumental Sports are making a big impact in our community, especially when it comes to new parents.

They just donated more than 300,000 diapers to the Greater DC Diaper Bank. Other volunteers joined the team to sort that large donation at the warehouse.

Those diapers will quickly get into the hands of families who need them.

According to Greater DC Diaper Bank, one in five families in the DMV area lives below the federal poverty level, with 0% of diaper needs being covered by food stamps and assistance programs. This is where they work to bridge the gap.

The event marks the launch of the Diaper Dudes campaign, created to support and celebrate the critical role of raising children and infant health.

The Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation also donated $25,000 to the diaper bank. In a social media post about the campaign, the foundation said that they packaged nearly 6,500 diapers which is enough diapers for 85 babies for a month.
