WASHINGTON — Did you know there is a global community of men who grow their hair long for a good cause? Well there, is and it is called The Longhairs.
The founders of the group were collecting hair donations from men, women, and children globally to donate to hundreds of children suffering from medical hair loss. In the process, the group was hoping to break a world record.
The men's grooming brand was attempting to set the Guinness World Record for the most hair donated to charity in 24 hours. The group was able to collect 250 pounds of hair, and though an amazing feat — that wasn't quite enough to break the previous record that of 339 pounds.
And the record they were trying to break was their own.
They did get over 800 mail-in donations and nearly 500 haircuts in person at their event on March 16. In the end, the children who will benefit from this selfless act still win.
Oh and by the way, The Longhairs say that they plan to go for the new world record again in five years. That is the amount of time it will take for them to grow out their hair again.
