NORMANDY, France — A historic performance is helping us get uplifted.
Morgan State University's Magnificent Marching Machine appeared on the world stage last week. The band performed in Normandy, France on the 80th anniversary and commemoration of D-Day. This makes them the first HBCU to participate in the internationally recognized event.
During the marching band's time in France, they got to learn about the history of World War II and the sacrifices made as thousands of troops stormed the shores of Normandy on D-Day.
The band marched through two towns, debuting its new uniforms and playing several songs including renditions of "Taps" and "America the Beautiful."
