WASHINGTON — Jack "Jax" Huffman is taking the final steps in a lengthy trek for a good cause. Huffman, from Centerline, Michigan, has been walking across the country since March to raise money for America's veterans.
Huffman began his Sundog Run on March 14 in Dana Strands Beach, California. Since then, he has raised more than $265,000 for the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund. The Michigan-based organization helps injured veterans and their families pay for their living expenses. He was expected to complete his journey Tuesday at the steps of the U.S. Capitol.
Over the course of the walk, Huffman has crossed 13 states, averaging 30 to 60 miles per day and pushing about 150 pounds worth of gear needed for the trip. He has documented his journey on his social media pages, and people from across the country have sponsored him along the way.
