SPRINGDALE, Md. — It is almost opening day for the latest stage production at Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Prince George's County, and we're not only getting uplifted by the hard work of the students.
Shanelle D. Ingram, the school's long-standing drama teacher and director, is worth honoring and receiving flowers. This year marks her 19th year at the high school as the drama teacher and 28 years in education.
Like a true teacher, Ingram says the journey has been worth it when she sees the joy in the students and parents' faces after performances.
This year's annual spring production was written, produced and directed by her. It's called "Da Magic Boombox: A Hip-Hop & Go-Go Evolution."
There are three matinees Thursday and plenty of chances for the public to support the students by catching a show at various times through Sunday, April 20.
With the guidance of Ms. Ingram, the Flowers Jaguar Players look to capture the culture through music.
