BETHESDA, Md. — A community supporting a DMV family in need is truly getting us uplifted.
Thanks to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), a family-owned company, and Damascus High School students a north Bethesda mom and her two teenage children are rolling on four wheels once again. They were gifted a refurbished 2020 Kia Soul.
The vehicle was donated by Damascus High students who are in automotive technology classes. Due to the gift, the family will be able to drive to work over the summer.
The students usually learn about cars by working on donated vehicles, then they sell them and use the money to buy equipment to continue to learn how to repair other vehicles.
But, this time, at the urging of the MCPS Department of Partnerships, they donated a car that was originally donated to them by local business ComTech Systems Inc. to a family who really needed it. Overall, being able to give away the "golden key" was truly a collaborative effort.
