Hampton University marching band to make its Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade debut

Hampton's Marching Force was supposed to participate last year, but the invitation was deferred because of the pandemic.

WASHINGTON — Today we're getting uplifted from Allison Seymour's alma mater, Hampton University. The school's marching force is set to do something it has never done before when it marches in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

The marching band was supposed to participate in last year's parade, but that invitation was deferred to this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hampton was selected as one of the just nine bands to participate. There were more than 100 applicants.

In a release from the school, the creative producer of the Macy's Thanksgiving parade said they look forward to introducing the talented students of Hampton University to the parade audience.

If you think the Hampton students might be fazed by being on the big stage, think again. The Hampton band has performed at the New Year's Day parade in Rome, the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, and at President Barack Obama's Inauguration parade in 2009.

We know they'll make us proud in New York City!
