MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. β A whole lot of girl power is helping us get uplifted.
In April, WUSA9 highlighted the fact that girls flag football was coming to Montgomery County. Fast-forward to now, and there is an update.
This fall, all 25 high schools in the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) system will see girls flag football in the sports lineup. Girls flag football is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and that is evident in the DMV.
Following the success of Frederick County Public Schools last year, the program will go forward at Montgomery County public high schools.
MCPS will join Baltimore City and Washington County Public Schools when kids head back to class in the fall. It's thanks, in part, to a partnership with the Baltimore Ravens and Under Armour, which includes grant funding for the program, equipment and uniforms.
