Girls flag football coming to high schools in Montgomery County | Get Uplifted

Girls flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and that is evident here in the DMV.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. β€” A whole lot of girl power is helping us get uplifted.

In April, WUSA9 highlighted the fact that girls flag football was coming to Montgomery County. Fast-forward to now, and there is an update.

This fall, all 25 high schools in the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) system will see girls flag football in the sports lineup. Girls flag football is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and that is evident in the DMV.

Following the success of Frederick County Public Schools last year, the program will go forward at Montgomery County public high schools.

SUMMER is here, but the girls' flag football season is just around the corner πŸ‘€πŸˆ In case you missed it: MCPS is partnering with the Baltimore Ravens to bring this amazing opportunity to all high schools this fall. Coaches attended a training session at the Under Armour Facility in Owings Mills, Maryland, and hundreds of interested students attended skills sessions at Walter Johnson, John F. Kennedy and Seneca Valley high schools.

MCPS will join Baltimore City and Washington County Public Schools when kids head back to class in the fall. It's thanks, in part, to a partnership with the Baltimore Ravens and Under Armour, which includes grant funding for the program, equipment and uniforms.
