Local teen helping sea turtles | Get Uplifted

The teen was inspired on a family vacation when he was just 4 years old when he witnessed the birth and safe passage of a nest of sea turtles.

WASHINGTON — From a very young age, a local teen, who has a passion for the conservation of sea turtles, is working to inspire many to do their part to help the planet and its precious wildlife.

At just 17 years old, Grayson Houston-Henderson is the founder and executive director of The Sea Turtle Conservation Fund. A nonprofit based in D.C. with a mission to protect the global sea turtle population.

Houston-Henderson was inspired on a family vacation when he was just 4 years old, where he witnessed the birth and safe passage of a nest of sea turtles in North Carolina. His work began as soon as he returned home with his first fundraiser...  and he hasn't stopped since.

To date, Houston-Henderson and his team, has raised over $60,000 for the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick and hurt sea turtles worldwide.

On top of that, Houston-Henderson has spent thousands of hours speaking to thousand of students of all ages around the world ultimately encouraging them to become young change makers -- specifically to help our environment.
