DC students chosen for environmental trip | Get Uplifted

It's the first time in 20 years the Frank Ski Foundation has invited kids from D.C. to participate.

WASHINGTON — Some young environmental scientists from the area learned they would soon be going global. The students learned of the their amazing opportunity to join an all-expense paid adventure to Australia at Howard University.

WHUR radio DJ and host Frank Ski selected three D.C. students to join him and some other lucky winners on the 2024 Planet Green Science Adventure. It's the first time in 20 years the Frank Ski Foundation has invited kids from D.C. to participate. 

This summer, 10 scholars will head out on the trip to Australia where they will study the effects of climate change on the Great Barrier Reef. 

The contest was open to kids ages 13 to 15. They had to write an essay on the impact of climate change and make a presentation in front of a panel of judges.
