WASHINGTON — An organization called Camp Fire celebrated a national effort and holiday founded by them on March 21. The effort is called Absolutely Incredible Kid Day, and it is a time to let your children know how special they are.
Camp Fire aims to help kids thrive nationwide by offering innovative youth development programs and leadership camps across the U.S., including D.C. The holiday, which is celebrated every third Thursday in March, asks that adults share photos of their kids as a way to communicate their support, love, and belief in their potential.
A recent study shows that depression and suicide rates among young people have surged and this initiative looks to alleviate mental health challenges faced by kids today.
Through its camps and school-related initiatives, Camp Fire looks to build supportive communities, provide mental health support, and get kids connected to nature.
Absolutely Incredible Kid Day is a great reminder for all of us to stop and take a moment to tell our kids how amazing they are.
