WASHINGTON — WUSA9 believes the environment matters which is why we are getting uplifted by a historic push towards sustainability by three women CEOs.
The three are CEOs of Goodwill organizations from Baltimore, D.C., and Delaware. They are joining forces to spearhead a revolutionary sustainability effort to recycle and reuse items that don't sell in their retail stores.
The idea was created during talks to maximize their collective reach and resources.
The trio, Lisa Rusyniak, Catherine Meloy, and Colleen Morrone, are looking to invest in the latest technology to the recycling process by upcycling used textiles, plastics and glass into raw materials for manufacturing and construction projects. The move would give employees of Goodwill the opportunity to up their computer skills and earn sustainability certifications.
Additionally, the move would lower trash bills, and create new revenue streams to support the mission of Goodwill, which is to transform lives through education and employment.
