Planet Fitness, coined as the "judgment free fitness zone," is good for someone who just needs the basics, but it's also a reasonable choice for someone who wants a little more of the perks without the heave price tag.
Planet Fitness offers two memberships: the "no commitment," $10 per-month program, or the PF Black Card membership for $22.00 per-month.
The "no commitment option" gives you unlimited access to your "home club," free fitness training and WiFi access at the club. The "Black Card" gives you all that, plus use of all Planet Fitness locations, unlimited guest privileges, use of hydro-massage and quite a bit more.
So, whether you just want to get in and get out or spend a little bit more time at the gym using its amenities, Planet Fitness is a good option.
2. LA Fitness
LA Fitness has all the basics, plus a little more. Their gyms include group fitness classes, a pool, a cycle room, a weight room, a basketball court, a personal training center, cardio machines, a stretching area and a kid's club.
LA Fitness has membership options for just about anyone. For a $49 initiation fee and $29.99 a month, you can get multi-club, single-state access to different LA Fitness clubs in your area. For a $0 initiation fee and $34.99 a month, you can get a six-month term of multi-club single-state access.
The club also offers personal training and group fitness classes for those looking for a little guidance.
Washington Sports Club isn't as widespread as some of the others, but it has perks for all.
WSC offers different membership options to cater to individual needs. The club offers a $39.99 per-month month-to-month option that lets you "enjoy all the benefits of a single sports club."
It also offers and "regional passport" option, which gives you access to all regional clubs for $69.99 on a month-to-month basis, or $59.99 per-month for a one-year commitment.
WSC offers different training classes: from cardio, Pilates, boxing and martial arts.They have a kids and family programs and pools at certain locations.
4. Gold's Gym
Gold's Gym prides themselves on over 50 years of defining fitness, and "reinventing it." The gym offers personal fitness profiles, "backed by 3D scanning technology," to help transform your life.
Gold's Gym offers a few different membership prices based on location.
In D.C., the gym is offering a New Year's special offer. For a 12-month membership, the gym is offering a $39.99 per-month option, but you can join now for $1. There is a $49 annual fee.
They also offer a month-to-month $39.99 per-month option with a $50 enrollment fee, but no contract. There's also the $49 annual free.
Lastly, they let you pay in full if you want. You can pay $399.99 in full for the year, with no enrollment free and a one-time $49 annual fee.
Onelife calls themselves "not your average gym." The fitness center offers a "premium fitness experience that extends beyond your workout." The center offers classes for every goal, training opportunities and other amenities such as pools, saunas, whirlpools and on-site childcare.
The first option Onelife provides is a $39.99 per-month fee with a one-time fee of $49. This option includes a free trial of small group training, two complimentary three day membership cards and unlimited group fitness classes.
The second option is $49.99 per-month with a one-time fee of $1. The membership also includes a free trial of small group training, two complimentary three day membership cards and unlimited group fitness classes.
6. Orangetheory
Orangetheory is "better than your ordinary gym workout." The gym's website said all you need is an hour. From there you have the opportunity to take a wide range of fitness classes designed for your specific goals, at any level.
There's no month-to-month contrat, you can book classes on your phone or online, the gyms are open seven days a week and you get access to over $1,000 studios.

Orange Premier: Unlimited classes for six moths, discounted family add-ons
Orange Elite: Eight classes per month, additional sessions at a discounted rate, available for six months with discounted family add-ons.

XSport Fitness provides more than the means to get fit. The gyms have a spa, workout equipment, a pool, basketball courts, tanning, group training and rock climbing walls.

For a single membership in the northern Virginia area, the prices tarts at $79 a month. For anyone 26 and under, prices start at $69 a month, and a day pass is $30.
Crunch Fitness isn't just for bodybuilders. The gym offers different classes and training activities for different experience levels. The gym offers yoga, battle roping, cross train challenges, zumba and more.
