On Friday donut devotees can run on Dunkin’ for free.

Dunkin’ Donuts will participate in National Donut Day, traditionally celebrated on the first Friday in June, by providing patrons with a free classic donut of their choice with the purchase of any beverage, according to a Dunkin’ Donuts media release.

The offer runs all day on June 2 at any participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant nationwide, including throughout the Washington, D.C. area.

National Donut Day was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.

The celebration will happen throughout the Washington, D.C. area in other doughnut locations as well. Special events, offers and contests will occur throughout the week for chances for free donuts.
