WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — With a name focusing on its atmosphere, rather than its food, this small, quaint establishment located just a few streets away from the Lincoln Theatre, climbed the foodie ladder to be named as a Restaurant of the Year by Food and Wine Magazine.
"Maydan" means "gathering place" or "square" in Arabic. However, the name intends to provide a deeper meaning for its customers.
"When you enter our town square—our “Maydān”—we want you to feel a sense of wonder. We want you to forget what you know and be ready to explore," says the restaurant's website.
