New students at Howard University got a big surprise on Thursday -- a visit from First Lady, Michelle Obama.
The Washington Post reports that the students at the event were greeted by Howard's provost, Amber Ruffin and told they would be hearing from Seth Meyers, Nick Cannon, and that they must turn off their cell phones.
Meyers reportedly introduced Cannon, who then told the group of students that he wanted to introduce a special guest.
The introduction of the First Lady prompted students to jump to their feet for a standing ovation.
The trio then took questions from the crowd of approximately 250 students.
The surprise visit also attracted a lot of attention on Twitter:

Besides being a panelist at Thursday's event, Nick Cannon is also a member of this year's Freshmen class at Howard. Cannon enrolled as a student at the Historically Black College and University this year
This is also Mrs. Obama's second visit to Howard in recent months. The First Lady delivered the Commencement address at Howard University for the Class of 2016 back in May.
