WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals' racing presidents mascots made a surprise appearance at the theater over the weekend. The racing presidents donned tutus and ballet slippers, transforming from racing presidents to dancing presidents.
Thomas, George, Abe and Teddy surprised the audience at a matinee performance of "The Nutcracker" on Sunday. The holiday staple is currently being performed by the Washington Ballet at the Warner Theatre.
The Washington Nationals tweeted out video of the mascots' antics calling it "the best thing you'll see all day."
According to the Washington Ballet's website, this version of the ballet is D.C.-centric.
"This celebrated production is set in historic 1882 Georgetown with George Washington, King George III, and other historical figures," the website says.
"Set to Tchaikovsky’s magical score, this celebrated classic comes to life with intricate, stunning set designs, original period costumes, and over 100 dancers including students and trainees from The Washington School of Ballet."
