WASHINGTON — It may be chilly outside right now, but officials with the National Cherry Blossom Festival are already getting ready for one of D.C.'s biggest signs of spring. The official artwork was unveiled for the 2025 event on Thursday
Festival officials revealed the artwork by Jamaican-born artist Anna August, the official artist of the 2025 National Cherry Blossom Festival, titled “Bloom.” August is an artist with Park West Gallery, the world's largest art dealer. The piece depicts the captivating beauty of the cherry blossoms on canvas, as interpreted by August, whose artwork style of expressionism focuses on evoking emotion through bold vibrant colors. The official artwork captures the energy of springtime in the District, while conveying the fleeting beauty and lively spirit of the cherry blossoms.
“My art is my way of capturing the beauty and ever-changing moments of life, so being able to share that through the cherry blossoms an iconic symbol of renewal and joy is truly amazing,” August said. “I want people to feel joy, serenity, and perhaps a bit of nostalgia when they see the artwork. I hope it reminds them of the magic that the blossoms bring each year and give a sense of connection to the festival.”
During the reveal festivities, officials also talked details of the upcoming festival's events. Returning in 2025 are Blossom Kicks for Kids and Blossom Tea Party, extending Petalpalooza and a sweepstakes for two roundtrip tickets to Tokyo from ANA, All Nippon Airways.
The iconic springtime celebration is set for March 20 to April 13, 2025. For more details, click here.
