As the weather cools down, the kitchen heats up and at Dangerous Delicious Pies the fun is just getting started! Here is head "pie-man" Rodney Henry's secret savory recipe!
S.M.O.G. – Steak, Mushroom, Onion, and Gruyere Pie
Ingredients:
900 grams steak shoulder tenders, cubed into 1/2-inch pieces
1 onion, diced and lightly sautéed
1 cup gruyere cheese, grated
1 cups mushrooms, sliced and lightly sautéed
1-1/2 cups heavy cream
1/8 cup flour
1 unbaked pie shell
Butter, melted
Directions:
Mix together steak, onion, cheese, mushrooms, cream and flour.
Dump ingredients into an empty pie shell. Cover with a second crust. Vent and brush some melted butter over the top.
Bake pie for 50-60 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or until the crust is golden brown and the gravy is bubbling through the vents. Let cool 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
Yields: 8 servings
