National Harbor, MD — There's no shortage of entertainment options in DC, Maryland, and Virginia during the summer. But if you're looking for fantastic family fun, look no further than UniverSoul Circus. The summer spectacle is at the National Harbor now until July 28th. Here's why it's the best show in the DMV.
It's all about inclusion. UniverSoul Circus boasts acts from around the world. The performers hail from South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile, Cuba, Russia, Mongolia, and many other countries. This melting pot of talent creates a joyous spirit and celebrates diversity. "Every year UniverSoul intends on spicing it up to give the audience something different; something they may not expect," says Cheyenne-Rose Dailey, Co-Ringmaster. "What's better than adding a female Ringmaster?"
It's the most interactive circus in the world. Although the performers are extremely talented, the real stars of UniverSoul Circus are the fans in the stands. When you go to the show, expect to be out of your seat the whole time. You may even get to dance with Co-Ringmaster Lucky Malatsi.
There are jaw-dropping stunts. You'll be blown away by so many performances in this show. From contortionists to motorcycle stunts, there are death-defying acts you have to see to believe. "This year we have a gentleman from Brazil who is walking upside down above the tent with no safety nets below," said Lucky. "That's just one of the amazing acts you'll see under the Big Top."
The energy level is out of this world. Beyond incredible stunts there are talented performers that keep you invigorated through the whole show. The Mongolian Acrobats defy gravity and the dance troupe Caribbean Dynasty have enough rhythm and flare to get any crowd going. If you want to show off your own moves, dance with Fresh The Clownsss. You may get to be an honorary Fresh Clown for the day.
It's community-focused. UniverSoul Circus's main mission is to entertain the public, but the performers also strive to help the community. Free shows are held for homeless families with children as part of the Family Open House program. CEO and Founder Cedric Walker also visits local schools to spread the circus cheer.
