Here's who is replacing Garbage at the HFStival at Nats Park

The new lineup will not include one of the biggest names in '90s alt rock. Here's who will be playing instead.

WASHINGTON — A festival that was a celebration of all things '90s will not feature one of that decade's biggest names in its 2024 comeback. Organizers announced on Thursday that Garbage will not be able to perform during the September 21 event at Nats Park.

Instead, singer-songwriter Liz Phair will take the band's place on the bill alongside Bush, Jimmy Eat World and headliners Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service. Phair's 1994 debut album "Exile in Guyville" was named one of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The 18-track double album is a track-by-track response to the Rolling Stones' album "Exile on Main St."

Garbage announced it would be cancelling the remainder of the band's tour dates in 2024 because of an injury lead singer Shirley Manson sustained during the band's recent European tour.

"It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of all our remaining dates for the rest of the year due to an injury that Shirley sustained on our recent tour in Europe that will require surgery and rehabilitation to correct. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and apologize wholeheartedly to our amazing fans and promoters. We look forward to playing for you all again in 2025," the band said in a statement.
