RALEIGH, N.C. — A popular North Carolina music festival, organized by rapper and native J Cole, will hold its final event in Raleigh in April.

Dreamville Festival, which began in 2019, will take place on April 5 and 6 for the fifth and final time. In announcement made on social media, organizers showed gratitude to fans for their support over the years:

"What a ride it’s been… We can’t thank y’all enough for all the memories we’ve shared. From the very beginning, the idea behind the fest was creating a place where our fans, the Dreamville community, could spend time together, a place where they could see themselves reflected, a place to share in experiences.''

The music festival hosted major talent during its five-year run, including Usher, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and more. In 2024, the festival set a record of more than 104,000 attendees, according to a report from WRAL.

Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell told WRAL the city is grateful to J Cole for bringing the festival to Raleigh, and although Dreamville is ending it has opened the door for similar events.

“There is interest in hosting other concerts of other music genres. It might be country, it might be electronic dance, it might be other things," Cowell said. "I think that Dreamville started something and that is going to continue, and you are going to see other major concerts at [Dorthea] dix.”
