WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- How great was Bill Murray on the Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday night?
As Letterman winds down his show, the actor and comedian made his 44th appearance on the penultimate episode of the "Late Show" and, of course, didn't disappoint.
He made his entrance in typical Bill Murray fashion: he popped out of a cake that said "Good bye, Dave." He then hugged Letterman.
After the taping of the show, Murray came out of the Ed Sullivan Theater to greet the crowd still covered in cake.
Murray and Letterman have a long history together. Murray was Letterman's first guest on late night television when he appeared with Letterman in 1982 on NBC's "Late Night." Murray was Letterman's first guest again when Letterman moved to CBS in 1993 for the "Late Show."
