Mark Ruffalo Joins Protest In Support of Victims of Priest Sexual Abuse Before 2016 Oscar Ceremony

Mark Ruffalo is voicing his support for survivors of priest sexual abuse.

The actor -- who is nominated in the Supporting Actor category at Sunday night's Oscars for his performance in Spotlight, the story of a group of reporters that uncovered an abuse scandal in Boston -- joined a protest at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles before the awards show began.

The #oscars aren't all fun and games. Mark Ruffalo is out this afternoon supporting SNAPnetwork.org which supports survivors of priest sexual abuse. Mark stars in Spotlight, which chronicles the uncovering of the abuse. Lest you be cynical that this is a PR stunt, the academy votes are already in. This won't affect the outcome for the oscars, but it could for the survivors.

Spotlight, the movie for which Ruffalo is nominated, centers around alleged abuses that have occured in the Catholic church.

Meanwhile, the 48-year-old actor, who considered boycotting the Oscars this year over it's lack of diversity, also promoted Sunday night's rally in Flint, Michigan, writing, "Check this out tonight. Justice for Flint." https://twitter.com/MarkRuffalo/status/704067761379512320
