WASHINGTON — It's been nearly two years since a kitchen fire closed down Reverie, a Michelin-starred restaurant in D.C.'s Georgetown neighborhood. Now, the restaurant is rising from the ashes with a new menu and a new look. The restaurant announced it would be back open to the public on March 26.
Reverie first opened in 2018 and received a Michelin star in 2022. A kitchen fire closed the restaurant's doors in August of that year. Since then, Chef Johnny Spero has been working to rebuild, while also traveling the world, and opening sister-restaurant Bar Spero.
According to Reverie's website, the menu "highlights the best and most exciting ingredients we can source from our team of farmers, fisherman and purveyors. Our menu is meant to showcase the bounty of the east coast waters, as well as our local farmers."
The Michelin Guide recently named Reverie one of its most anticipated restaurant openings of the year.
Dinner costs $255 per person with a beverage pairing option. Dinner service is available from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
Spero has been sharing images of some of the new dishes on his Instagram page, discussing the work it took to bring the restaurant back to life.
"Incredibly grateful to have the chance to reopen this restaurant. From day one we have faced challenges just like every other small business. But through a lot of roadblocks and obstacles the restaurant faced, we made it to the other side. We have a long way to go, and plan on staying here for years to come. Can't wait to see you all here," Spero wrote in one post.
