Howard University graduate announced as first-ever Beyoncé reporter

Earlier this year, hundreds of journalists nationwide got in formation to apply for the job -- but one person came out on top.

WASHINGTON — In September, the country's biggest newspaper chain started their search for two unique job positions: reporters for Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. Fast-forward to just around two months later and both roles have been filled, with one of the positions being occupied by a Howard University graduate.

Earlier this year hundreds of journalists nationwide got in formation to apply for the job -- but one person came out on top.

The USA Today Network announced the reporter who will exclusively cover music superstar Beyoncé is Caché McClay -- a graduate from the District's historically Black university.

She will cover all things Beyoncé including her concerts, business ventures and her upcoming film documenting her Renaissance tour, which also included two nights in the DMV at FedEx Field.

USA Today interviewed McClay about her new role, asking what she is most excited about, in which she responded by saying, "I'm honored to be in this position. I'm so excited to get down to the nitty-gritty of Beyoncé. She is such a renowned name in our culture, in the industry around the world. And there's so much content to uncover with her. So I'm honored to be able to laser focus on those things one step at a time."

McClay, who is a Cleveland native, has previously worked for NBC News, BBC News, and TMZ. She also graduated from Howard in 2017.
