Actor Tim Reid hosts 1st Annual Cape Verdean American Film Festival

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Some stars are in town for the first annual Cape Verdean American Film Festival, including actor Tim Reid the dad from "Sister Sister" and best known as Venus Fly Trap on "WKRP in Cincinnati."

Tim Reid will host the two-day festival featuring films from the West African Islands of Cape Verde, Brazil, and West Africa. The cultural event will also honor some Cape Verdean Americans in the arts including actor Michael Beach, from "Waiting to Exhale" and "Soul Food."

Screenings begin Friday night (May 23rd) and will take place at The Rita Bright Family and Youth Center in Columbia Heights and venues throughout the city.
