WASHINGTON — It's 2024, and I often wonder how does everyone not want to be in news? Well, here's a quote I paraphrased from the internet, "Journalism: the pay is low, and the hours are long, but at the end of the day, everybody hates you."

I think for people like me, and for many journalists, it's the passion. That passion for me began at an early age. I've always wanted to hear about people's problems and how they solve them. Now, it's about being part of the local community and working hard to share stories in a compelling and authentic way; so people can decide how to respond. Along the way I’ve won an award or two but it’s not about that. My news philosophy is simple, focus on the people who graciously let me into their lives and own that story. Speaking of which, send/ tag me in all your cellphone videos of anything interesting you see -- it could be a story!

With over a decade of reporting experience, I've worked in various metro areas including New Orleans, Denver and most recently Miami. I graduated from Cal State Los Angeles with a bachelor's degree in communications. Yes, that means I'm originally from SoCal, but I got here as soon as I could! Now, I'm proud to call the DMV my home.

In my almost non-existent free time, I collect new hobbies and try to brush up on my elementary Spanish and French. I’m probably fluent in Vietnamese.
