  If a Frog had Wings
If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his bottom every time he jumped and if this were January or February 13th we would be digging out from a monster blizzard. On Sunday National set their daily rainfall record with 2.63" of rain. Dulles set a record as well with 3.73". If we conservatively convert that to snowfall, not even including today's rainfall, we would have had two to three feet! The past winter was torture for snow lovers and now in May we get the Nor'easter we wanted in winter. Highs today will not get out out of the forties in many locations. That's cold for May. I almost made a fire last night but resisted the temptation. I'm not sure I can recall when every county in the Metro Area was under a flood warning at the same time as we have been today. I will echo what I mentioned on the air last Friday: is very dangerous to cross a flooded street or roadway. For those of you with newly licensed drivers please hammer this point into their heads. If it takes them an extra five or ten minutes to arrive safely that's worth every second. We are on our way to a top ten wet May. The all time wettest May was back in 1889 and again in 1953 with 10.69" of rain. A more reachable record is May of 1989 when we received 7.77" of rain ranking that as number five. May of 2003 ranks sixth with 7.06" of rain. We are not half way through the month and we are already number six. I will say again that all the rain this May is so beneficial to our water table and to our reservoirs.
