Remembering Shalita Middleton

They came by the hundreds Tuesday to the 19Th street Baptist church, which is actually located on 16Th street, NW for Shalita Middelton's funeral. There was a busload of students including her cheerleader squad from Delaware State University, in Dover where Shalita was a 17 year old freshman.

Her former classmates from the District's Woodrow Wilson Senior High were there, along with faculty members and cheerleaders.

I was able to talk with a couple of her classmates and the President of Delaware State. Shalita's mom was brought over and gave me a warm hug. Her baby had died last week from the injuries she received in September when shot on the Delaware State campus.
