ACS Selects Washingtonian as President

In October in Atlanta, Georgia, a high honor for Dr. Elmer Huerta, Director of the Cancer Preventorium at the Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Huerta was named President Of the American Cancer Society. A native of Peru, Dr. Huerta is the first Latino president of this organization.

As you know, the American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Its mission - preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.

In addition to his expanding responsibilities, Dr. Huerta will continue hosting his popular radio show Community Clinic Of the Air. The hour long program airs on Radio America, WDCA-AM, 1540.
