The DCRA Regulates Food Trucks and Mobile Vending Due to Their Recent Impact on the Restaurants

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) released a proposed vending regulation in regards to foods trucks and mobile vending on January 20th. The food truck phenomenon has gained momentum in the food service industry and has stirred up quite the debate. 

Council member Yvette M. Alexander, the Chair of the Committee on Public services and Consumer Affairs, supports food trucks and realizes their impact raises concerns to many restaurants.

Council member Alexander said that "Now that this draft is available for a 30-day public comment period, I look forward to studying the provisions and reviewing the sentiments of the public so that I, along with members of the committee, can make an informed decision once the final version is submitted to the Council."

After the final regulations are submitted, a public round table to discuss the concerns of all interested stakeholders will be hosted by Council member Alexander.
