LAUREL, Md. (WUSA) -- Officials have located a swimmer suspected of drowning at the Triadelphia Reservoir this past Friday night.
Montgomery County officials say three people had been swimming in an area of the reservoir where the water level suddenly dropped off. One of the swimmers, 21-year-old Bruce Orlando Yansen of Olney, panicked and went under the water. Another swimmer tried to rescue Yansen but was unsuccessful.
Recovery efforts by Montgomery County Police, Montgomery County Fire/Rescue, Howard County Fire/Rescue, and Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission Police have been ongoing since Friday.
Tuesday, at approximately 9:42 a.m., Montgomery County Fire/Rescue located Yansen's body in the Triadelphia Reservoir. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
