WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Mayor Vincent Gray says he will pay for high price and high powered attorney Bob Bennett out of his own pocket. Attorney Bennett represented Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky trial.
"I asked for this investigation and I hope it moves swiftly," said the Mayor Thursday. "I know I'll be questioned at some point and I want to be represented."
The controversy continues as the Washington Post reports Howard L. Brooks, who consulted the Mayor during his campaign, allegedly cheated the Georgia lottery out of $1 million in the late 90's. Brooks is also alleged to have given Sulaimon Brown envelopes of cash for his continued bashing of Fenty during the campaign.
"I have not seen Mr. Brooks all this year," said the Mayor.
On Wednesday night, Sulaimon Brown said very little after leaving a meeting believed to have taken place between the former D.C. employee and federal investigators.
Brown claims Mayor Gray not only fixed his election but also exchanged high profile District jobs for political favors. The 40-year-old's allegations surfaced after he was fired in late February from his job as a special assistant in the Department of Healthcare Finance. He was terminated after D.C. officials learned information that suggested he had a criminal past including a restraining order dating back to 2007.

Brown said about the meeting he had with federal investigators, "I can't comment on the specifics. I can just say they were professional, and I cooperated with everything they wanted."
Brown is still standing by his claims and said, "The residents of the District of Columbia deserve better from the mayor. It's unfortunate that he's been telling the public lies and that it had to get to this point."
