HYATTSTOWN, Md. — A dump trucked carrying stone overturned onto a median on Interstate 270 near Frederick, Md. on Monday afternoon, according to Maryland State Police.
The dump truck overturned on Route 109 on I-270 shortly before 2 p.m.
Traffic was backed up for approximately six miles, according to officials.
Hazmat crews were on the scene because investigators said they believe the fuel tank of the dump truck ruptured.
Fire officials say one lane is open in both directions.
The driver of the dump truck was taken to a local hospital.
No further information has been released at this time.
