ARLINGTON, Va. — A man was rushed to the hospital with serious burn injuries after flames broke out inside an Arlington apartment early Tuesday morning.
According to Captain Benjamin O'Bryant, spokesman for the Arlington County Fire Department, crews were called to the 2300 block of S. Hayes St. for a report of a fire around 2:20 a.m. Once crews arrived on the scene they found flames coming from an apartment over a detached garage. A man was rescued and rushed to a local burn unit for treatment of serious burn injuries.
A firefighter was also taken to the hospital after showing signs of dehydration. He is in good condition, Capt. O'Bryant said.
Capt. O'Bryant says the Red Cross has been contacted to assist two other occupants displaced by the blaze.
Firefighters are wrapping up overhaul at the scene, and some units are going back into service.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
