Woman, animals found dead after house fire in Temple Hills

Firefighters say the flames had already been extinguished by the time they got to the single-family home.

TEMPLE HILLS, Md. — A house fire is under investigation after a woman and three animals were found dead Monday afternoon.

According to Prince George's County Fire and EMS, crews were called to a home in the 5200 block of Oahu Court shortly after 3:30 p.m. for reports of a peculiar smell. 

Firefighters say the flames had already been extinguished by the time they got to the single-family home.

Fire officials tell WUSA9 that a woman, two dogs and a cat were found dead inside the home when they arrived. It is unclear how the woman and animals died.

The cause of the fire and the woman's death are under investigation.
