Officer dragged by suspect vehicle during traffic stop in Adelphi, Md.

Police say the officer was not seriously injured during the incident.

ADELPHI, Md. — A Prince George's County police officer was dragged by the driver of a suspected stolen car during a traffic stop in Adelphi, Maryland early Friday morning, Prince George's County police said.

A vehicle was reported stolen from the 2100 block of Drexel Street around 5:30 a.m., police said. Moments later, officers spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to do a traffic stop.

During the stop, an officer was dragged by the suspect vehicle for a short distance, police said.

The officer was not seriously injured during the encounter.

At this time, the series of events leading up to the officer getting dragged is unknown.

The investigation is still ongoing.
