Hyattsville, MD (WUSA9) — It was back to normal on Monday for a group of Prince George's County high school students, after a scary incident over the weekend during a school trip to New York.
A charter bus carrying students caught fire on the New Jersey Turnpike. All students are safe.

According to the bus driver, a tire exploded on the bus.

The students on the bus were part of Northwestern High School's Visual and Performing Art program.
They were in New York over the weekend to take Master Classes in Dance and Theater with professionals working on the musical "Wicked."
Their bus caught fire when they were on their way home on Sunday.
"My daughter was on the bus that caught fire," said Barbara Washington on Facebook. "I was so happy when she arrived home. I told her everything she lost will be replaced and her life is more important than material items."
Students were able to grab some of their belongings, but according to the school district, some musical instruments were lost or damaged.
The school district is trying to figure out what is covered by insurance.
