SEVERN, MD (WUSA9) — Three people are dead after a house fire in Severn, Md. on Saturday night.
Firefighters were called to a house fire just after 10:45 p.m. in the 7900 block of Stone Hearth Road. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the house.
Occupants who escaped told firefighters that someone was still possibly inside the house.
Firefighters immediately made entry and removed one deceased adult. During additional searches, two more adult victims were found dead as well.
Authorities say that the house is used as a group home operated by Arundel Lodge.
Among the deceased victims are two male residents and one female worker.
The fire was extinguished in about an hour by 45 firefighters from Anne Arundel County, Fort Meade and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.
There were working smoke alarms inside the house.
The investigation is ongoing.
