Police: Kids at home while Falls Church man stabbed to death by mother's boyfriend

The homicide happened around 1 a.m. in the 2900 block of Charing Cross Road, according to Fairfax County police.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. -- A 36-year-old man has been taken into custody after police say he stabbed his girlfriend's 27-year-old son to death while kids were inside an apartment in Falls Church, police said.

The homicide happened around 1 a.m. in the 2900 block of Charing Cross Road. Police found Oscar Daniel Diaz Fuentes suffering from a stab wound. He was stabbed in the torso. Fuentes was taken to the hospital where he died.

Jose Adalberto Vasquez Hernandez, Fuentes' mom's boyfriend, has been taken into custody. Police said Hernandez and Fuentes got into an altercation and then Hernandez stabbed Fuentes.

The authorities added that the suspect and victim lived together and children were inside the apartment at the time of the stabbing.

No additional information has been released at this time.
