'Real reason why the murder rate high' | Suspects posted videos after Makiyah Wilson murder

Fifty pages of court documents and more than 100 paragraphs continue to help paint the picture of what police said happened to Makiyah Wilson.

WASHINGTON -- One murder, four months, and five arrests.

DC Police charged two additional people last week in connection to the killing of 10-year-old Makiyah Wilson.

One man was already in jail for murder, and police said a teenager helped stash some guns.

50 pages of court documents and more than 100 paragraphs continue to help paint the picture of what police said happened to Makiyah Wilson.

The rising 5th grader died four months ago when a group of masked men was caught on video firing more than 70 gunshots into a crowd of people.

The incident may have stemmed from an alleged beef between Wellington Park and DC’s Clay Terrace neighborhoods.

Mark Price and Marquell Cobb joined Quentin Michals, Qujuan Thomas, and Gregory Taylor behind bars.

All the suspects were charged with first-degree murder.

Court documents revealed the roles investigators believe each suspect played.

Price allegedly owned one of the cars used to drive the men who killed Makiyah, and police said he was caught on surveillance video in Wellington Park before and after the murder.

Detectives said Price is also seen in Instagram footage singing rap lyrics: “we’re the real reason why the murder rate high.”

Price was already in jail on murder charges and accused of killing Maryland youth football coach Andre Young.

Young was shot in Southeast two weeks after Makiyah died.

A 16-year-old was the 5th and most recent person arrested for Makiyah’s murder.

Marquell Cobb is accused of stashing some of the guns at a home where he lived in Northwest.

Records show that after the shooting Cobb asked Michals “bring da whole back?” Michals responded, “Yeah. Bring all that.”

Michals was not one of the shooters, but police said he helped the plan the attack.

Investigators said Thomas and Taylor are at least two of the men in the video released of the shooting.

Police have not said if they are planning to make more arrests, but the investigation is still open.
