WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A body was found in the Potomac River in Southwest, D.C. early Tuesday morning, police said.
Officers found the body around 5:40 a.m. in the area of the 2700 block of Ohio Drive, according to D.C. police.
The discovery was made at a sewage pumping station just south of the Kennedy Center.
A spokesperson for the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority said Monday night's heavy ran could have pushed the body through a large sewer pipe.
Police have identified the body as 62-year-old James Hutson.
His cause of death has not been determined and an investigation is underway.
