Early Wednesday morning, a fire destroyed Hank Dietle's Tavern, a bar that has been in business since the 1950's in North Bethesda.
The tavern is located at 11010 Rockville Pike between Edson Lane and Flanders Ave. When crews got to the scene, fire was coming from the two-story building. Around 65 firefighters responded to the fire.
No injuries were reported and the fire appears to be accidental, according to authorities. The cause of fire has been identified as discarded smoking materials, Montgomery County Fire officials stated. Damages have been estimated at $500,000.
The bar has been in business since the 1950's, however the building has been around for over 100 years.
Montgomery County Fire officials said a passerby called 911 and reported the fire.
