1 dead following double shooting, barricade incident in Prince George's County, Monday

One victim has died, the second is reported to have non-life-threatening injuries

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. — One of the victims in the double shooting in Prince George's County Monday has died, police said. 

The second victim is reported to have non-life-threatening injuries according to police earlier Monday. Police believe that the suspect and victims knew each other prior to the incident.

The shooting occurred around 1:40 p.m. outside a home on Daventry Terrace in District Heights.

The suspect was believed to be barricaded in a nearby building, authorities said. Police asked residents in the Royal Plaza town homes to stay indoors for some time.

Prince George's County Public Schools confirmed two schools – Suitland High School and Drew-Freeman Middle School – were on lockdown due to police activity. The lockdown was lifted for Drew-Freeman Middle School shortly before 4 p.m., and was lifted a short time later for Suitland High School, authorities said.

Police are still searching for the suspect.
